The Baddest Haircare
Since 1987

The year is 1987. Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ has taken the world by storm. Dirty Dancing is the talk of cinemagoers everywhere and the Berlin Wall is yet to fall. Away from the limelight, a young David Stennett strikes out on his own after several years working for big American haircare brands including Leisure Curl.

Armed with a trusty blue Ford Transit van, and every inch of spare room in his dad’s garage, David travelled the country establishing a network of professional salons around Europe who relied on his contacts to get access to the latest and greatest product from the USA for their clients.

This relationship with salons, distributors and manufacturers continues to this day. Headlines is responsible for introducing many of the leading product ranges created especially for people of colour to UK and Europe. Avlon’s Affirm, Organic Root Stimulator, KeraCare, Motions and Design Essentials are just a few of several brands brought to the UK by Headlines. This is why Headlines only stocks the very best products, which are all recommended by salons whose customers love them for allowing them to present their best looks to the world.

The company would move to Tottenham in 1990, adding a storefront and boutique salon in 1995 before relocating to a warehouse in 2005. More recently, the company has launched its own product ranges, such as Africare, and now, Afara, which uses natural ingredients like cupuaçu butter to moisturise the hair and scalp like never before.

Today, Headlines remains a family-run, black-owned business, with David, his wife Orlean, and their children all involved in the operation of the business. We can fulfil orders for both retail customers and professional requirements across Europe, so please feel free to get in touch.

We can’t wait to help you make headlines with your look.
